About the Event

This year impactED have collaborated with Gamestah and Victory Up to bring you a series of hui in Esports. 

There will be face-to-face and online hui for kaiako, ākonga and whānau to join in on to learn more about Esports and how it can be a great alternative to traditional sports, as well as a future career option for ākonga.  

Some hui will be,

Esports in Education

This workshop will give you an overview of the esports industry.

During the hui, we will discuss

  • Some of the factors underpinning esports activities and events (locally and abroad).
  • Delve into career opportunities in esports that ākonga might pursue.
  • Explore the differences between esports participation and recreational video games.

Esports Tech

This hui will give you an understanding of how the various software, hardware and network components fit together, enabling you to have conversations with school IT staff to get everything set up for an esports program.

There will be a practical component too – kaiako will set up their own game and Discord (communications) accounts, access online tournament tools, and receive an introduction to setting up recording and streaming software.

Hui will be held in both Christchurch and Wellington regions.
