About the Event
Maths education has gone through many transformations over the years, with many strategies and tools introduced. This has created mixed messages for us as kaiako. Join in the conversation around the key ideas that have been bubbling to the surface.
We will look at how themes such as:
- Growth Mindset
- Kaupapa Māori
- Authentic Contexts
- Assessment for Learning
- Important Learning, not left to chance
- Digital Resources
How all these elements fit together to build a strong and equitable Maths curriculum.
Who is this event for?
This session is suitable for Years 1-13 kaiako and senior leaders who are interested in developing Maths in your kura.
This hui is facilitated by Jackie, who is on leave from her role as Head of the Mathematics and Statistics faculty at Mount Hutt College. She is passionate about providing quality teaching and learning in Maths for all students.
Why is this event free?
At impactED we have a profit for purpose model.
A Profit for Purpose is “led by a mission to achieve social, community and environmental benefit through trading and channeling a portion of their profits towards their mission.”
In working towards our profit for purpose model, our team do the following:
- Run free online hui for kaiako around Aotearoa
- Run a number of free after school kanohi ki te kanohi hui
- Support smaller educational agencies by gifting our time to support their kaupapa
- Bring food and kai where ever we go
- Put on gin and kai hui to thank schools for their support
- Sponsor refreshments at a number of events
We enjoy sharing the free mahi with everyone. However, we have recently been experiencing people booking in and not attending the hui. This causes us over cater our events and disrupt our hosts' planning. We have decided, that 24hrs notice must be given if you are unable to attend this hui or a fee of $10.00 is payable to impactED to cover catering, and where applicable, venue costs. Invoices will be delivered to the email in the booking form, and payment in full is the responsibility of the owner of the email address to pay within 2 weeks of delivery.
