Welcome to the impactED Curriculum Series for Nelson, West Coast, Marlborough and Kaikoura. 

There are five FREE online hui for you to join in on. Each one will cover a different area across the New Zealand Curriculum.

All hui will be recorded, and shared with Nelson, West Coast, Marlborough, Kaikoura through Janine Higgins, Curriculum Lead.

Assessment for Learning

Using digital tools to give effective feedback

This hui will familiarise participants with the characteristics of Assessment for Learning – with a focus on effective feedback. Participants will come away with a kete of free digital tools that can be used for effective feedback. 

This session is suitable for educators who have students with access to digital tools for learning. It will cover opportunities for Years 1-13.

Intro to Local Curriculum

What is it? How do we go about it? Some examples

This hui is designed to give you an introduction to what a Local Curriculum is. We will explore some of the resources, and different ways that you can go about this curriculum creation. impactED has clarified Local curriculum and can help you identify the best approach for your kura. Exploring some examples from schools will help you to picture what this could look like for you.

Te Reo Māori

This hui will focus on the curriculum guidelines for mainstream schools – Te Aho Arataki Marau mō te Ako i Te Reo Māori, and some supporting resources to help the teaching and learning of Te Reo Māori.

This hui will bring together the best bits from all the ideas to build a balanced program that suits all of our learners.

Immersive Reader

supporting ākonga with an amazing literacy tool

Immersive Reader is a free tool that may be used to help improve reading and writing for learners, regardless of their age or ability. Immersive Reader can improve reading comprehension and increase fluency for English language learners. It can help build confidence for emerging readers, and offer text decoding solutions for students with learning differences such as dyslexia.
